SAN DIEGO — A suspected drunken driver slammed his pickup into several parked car in the San Carlos neighborhood early Monday.

The loud crash awakened residents on Bardonia Street at about 1 a.m. People came out of their homes to find once crumpled car knocked into the middle of  the street. The heavily damaged white pickup had its rear wheels on a retaining wall in front yard of a home. The front of the truck had come to rest on the trunk of another parked car.

One neighbor said the pickup was on fire and the uninjured driver was upset about the damage to his truck.

“I grabbed my hose and told people to back out, told the driver to sit down — he was worried about his truck, because he was drunk — and started putting the fire out and waited for the cops to get here.

When police arrived, they arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

No one was injured. The damage to the three vehicles was not immediately known.
