Man shot to death near Mount Hope

SAN DIEGO — A man was shot to death Sunday in the Mt. Hope neighborhood, police said.

The shooting happened at 2:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Raven Street, according to San Diego police.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, was taken to the hospital after being shot multiple times. The person was later was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Sunday evening they were investigating the shooting as a murder.

According to the San Diego Police Department, one man and two vehicles — a white 1990s Honda Accord and a black 2006-2010 Chrysler 300 — were spotted leaving the area of the shooting shortly after it occurred.

The person seen leaving the area was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a long-sleeved white sweatshirt, dark sweatpants and a dark cap. Police said it was unclear how, if at all, the man seen leaving the area was involved in the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
