A 2019 Ford pickup truck was northbound on North Johnson Avenue when it hit the 45-year-old woman as she crossed the street eastbound outside a crosswalk, Taub said.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, the lieutenant said.
The driver remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators, but no details about the driver were immediately available.
“At this point in the investigation, DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the collision,” Taub said.
Police shut down Johnson Avenue between Vernon Way and Fesler Street for the crash investigation.
