ESCONDIDO, Calif. — A motorcycle patrolman suffered minor injuries Monday in a collision on an Escondido roadway.

Escondido police Officer Mike Nelson was pulling over a car on West Grand Avenue, near Quince Street, when another vehicle sideswiped him shortly after 10:30 a.m., knocking him onto the pavement, Lt. Eric Skaja said.

Medics took Nelson to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of bruises and scrapes to his chest, legs and feet.

The motorist whose Honda sedan hit the officer, 29-year-old Sean Whitaker of Temecula, was uninjured and cooperated with investigators, the lieutenant said.
