SAN DIEGO — Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a pastor fatally shot outside his Boulevard home last weekend, allegedly by a tenant who lived on the same rural property near the Golden Acorn Casino.

Deputies responding to a report of gunfire in the 36500 block of Old Highway 80 found Craig Hodson, 55, mortally wounded shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to sheriff’s officials and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hodson, pastor at a Baptist church in the nearby community of Jacumba, died at the scene of the shooting.

Homicide detectives arrested Paul David Carr, 61, on suspicion of murdering Hodson, from whom he rented a cabin a short distance from the victim’s home.

Authorities have disclosed no suspected motive for the shooting.

Carr was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
