CARLSBAD, Calif. — A drunken driver who led officers on a freeway chase from Orange County to his home in Carlsbad Wednesday night had to be subdued with a stun gun before who could be arrested, authorities said.
A patrol unit tried to pull over a white Mercedes on Interstate 5 in San Juan Capistrano at about 11:30 p.m. because it was driving erratically, CHP Officer Ken Perez said. Instead of stopping, the driver continued south at speeds of up to 100 mph, Perez said.
The Man eventually pulled off the freeway in Carlsbad and drove to his home near El Camino Real and La Costa Avenue. He tried to get inside the house, but officers caught up to him. He put up a struggle until officers used a stun gun to subdue him, Perez said.
He was booked into the county jail in Vista on suspicion of driving under the influence and other charges.
