OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A fire erupted Thursday night at a house in Oceanside.

The blaze in the 600 block of S. Brooks Street was reported by multiple callers as smoke and flames were seen billowing from the residence,  according to Oceanside Police Officer George Darrah.

The fully engulfed structure prompted nearby home evacuations.

The homeowner was in the garage at the time of the blaze and is not injured.

Officials estimate the fire caused around $100,000 in damages.  A cause for the fire was under investigation.
