Newborn found in Subway restaurant toilet

LOS ANGELES – A woman suspected of giving birth at a sandwich shop in East Los Angeles and leaving her newborn in the toilet was arrested Monday, police said.

The infant was found in the toilet of a Subway restaurant in a shopping center at 2540 S. Azusa Avenue, West Covina police told KTLA.  The mother was arrested about 20 minutes not far from the shop.

Police had the infant transferred to a hospital to be treated for an undisclosed condition. It was unknown how far along the mother was in her pregnancy, KTLA reported.
