The victim was found bleeding from at least one stab wound to the chest on the Adams Avenue bridge over Interstate 805 at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to San Diego Police Department Lt. Eric Hays.
“He’s got one stab wound, a fractured orbital bone, broken jaw, road rash, rib fractures and a broken wrist,” said Hays.
When police arrived, an off-duty lifeguard was giving the man CPR. He was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Detectives told Fox 5 they got a call Friday from a man who believes the victim is his roommate.
“The roommate called us and said the door was wide open when he returned home — saw some blood inside and a knife on the floor,” said Hays.
According to police, the victim was in a drug-induced coma, but expected to survive. The victim’s name has not been released.
