SAN DIEGO – A man who ran nude through traffic on Interstate 5 in Logan Heights Thursday fought with officers when they tried to detain him, biting one on the leg before being subdued.

California Highway Patrol officers blocked the left lanes of I-5 near Cesar Chavez Parkway around 10:20 a.m. because the man was running in the traffic lanes and yelling at motorists. When an officer attempted to restrain the man, he bit the officer’s leg, CHP officer Robert Catano said. The officer and a second patrolman chased down and caught the naked man, who struggled with them while being taken into custody.

Both the bitten officer and the biter were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

All lanes of the freeway were reopened by 11 a.m.
