GLEN COVE, NY-- A woman captured a picture of a rare phenomenon during her commute in New York that puts the double rainbow to shame.

A real picture of the quadruple rainbow was posted to Twitter and was instantly shared by thousands of people. Amanda Curtis, CEO of Nineteenth Amendment, said she caught the incredible sight near the commuter rail station in Glen Cove New York.

According to a meteorologist Timothy Ballisty, Curtis' picture was of two double rainbows - making it a four rainbow shot.

"Two of the rainbows have their colors reversed - a product of light being reflected twice," Ballisty posted on Facebook.

Seeing two rainbows at one time is not as rare as once thought. The fascination with double rainbows stemmed from a video posted to YouTube about the "miracle" of seeing it.
