SAN DIEGO — At least four people were injured Friday night in a riot at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, authorities said.
The riot started at 8:30 p.m. in a recreation yard, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Staff members ordered the participants to stop fighting and “officers used several rounds of less than lethal use of force to quell the disturbance.”
Four inmates were taken to hospitals to be treated for injuries that included puncture wounds, cuts and bruises to the head, neck and torso areas.
No staff members reported injuries in the riot.
