LOS ANGELES – All lanes of Interstate 5 were closed at the Grapevine north of Los Angeles Friday morning , the California Highway Patrol reported.
Mudslides and flash flooding from severe thunderstorms forced several closures Thursday night. Crews were working Friday morning to remove debris and mud from the roadway. Dozens of cars and trucks remained stuck in the mud as of 9 a.m. Friday.
Northbound lanes were closed at Parker Road and were expected to reopen by noon, KTLA reported. All lanes of southbound I-5 were closed at Grapevine Road and were expected to reopen by 5 p.m., the television station reported.
The Grapevine is the main artery connecting San Diego and metropolitan Los Angeles with the Central Valley.
