Mountain lion sighting reported near CSU San Marcos

SAN DIEGO — A mountain lion was believed to have been spotted Friday afternoon near California State University San Marcos.

The animal was reported in the hills behind the Center for Children and Families, according to university police.

University police notified the California Department of Fish and Game.

Police reminded people to use extra caution when walking on campus, especially at night or in the early morning, and to not walk alone. Anyone who sees a mountain lion should contact university police at 760-750-4567.
