EL CAJON, Calif. — A motorcyclist was fatally struck in unincorporated El Cajon by a driver making a U-turn into the biker’s path, the California Highway Patrol reported Sunday.
The crash happened at 5:25 p.m. Saturday on eastbound Olde Highway 80, west of Bond Avenue, according to CHP Officer Travis Garrow.
The motorcyclist, an unidentified 27-year-old Santee resident, was heading along the highway when a 19-year-old Jamul woman driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent made a U-turn “and crossed directly into the path of the motorcycle,” Garrow said.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The woman stayed on scene and was cooperative with officers, Garrow said. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, according to Garrow.
