PALOMAR, Calif. —  A man was injured and hospitalized Monday after laying down his motorcycle to avoid striking another vehicle that ran a stop sign, a CHP dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said the incident occurred at 10:46 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 76 and Harolds Road, south of Palomar Mountain State Park and west of La Jolla Indian Reservation

“The man was transported to Palomar Hospital for treatment,” the dispatcher said.

The motorcyclist was not identified.

The extent of his injuries was not known, the dispatcher said.
