SAN DIEGO – Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a celebration marking the birthday of the civil rights activist.
All San Diego county offices, library branches, and animal shelters will be closed in observance of the holiday. Parking meters in the city of San Diego will not be enforced, except for some areas of Del Mar. County Parks and Campgrounds will stay open.
Buses, trains, and trolleys operated by the Metropolitan Transit System and North County Transit District will operate on normal schedules today.
San Diegans wishing to celebrate MLK Day have several options this year. Below is a list of events.

What: Alliance San Diego will host the 27th All Peoples Celebration, which will recognize the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.
A Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will take place at the World Beat Center in Balboa Park, featuring food and multicultural arts and crafts.

What: Interfaith and Action: A Day of Bridge Building and Good Deeds
Join The North County Islamic Foundation (NCIF), The Jewish Collaborative of San Diego (JCoSD), and Christ Presbyterian Church in LaCosta as North County Muslims, Jews, and Christians come together to get to know each other, share a meal with each other, and take part in social action projects.
