OCEANSIDE, Calif. — A methamphetamine manufacturing operation discovered inside an RV on a sprawling property on the outskirts of Oceanside led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man, police said Friday.

SWAT and hazardous materials teams and narcotics officers searched the 17-acre property in the 600 block of Sleeping Indian Road near North River Road on Thursday, Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Cosby said. The lot contained several RV-type trailers, shacks and outbuildings.

Cosby said after specially trained officers located the meth lab inside one of the RVs, fire crews and hazmat personnel confiscated chemicals, a high-pressure cylinder filled with explosive hydrochloric gas and around five ounces of freshly manufactured methamphetamine.

Joseph Calcagno was arrested following the seven-hour search, Cosby said.
