EL CAJON, Calif. — A driver apparently was stricken by a fatal medical emergency while driving on an El Cajon-area street Friday that caused her to lose control of her car, which hit five parked vehicles before crashing to a halt.

The westbound silver Mercedes-Benz veered off the roadway in the 1000 block of Greenfield Drive in the unincorporated Bostonia community about 9:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Medics took the unconscious 67-year-old driver to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.
