The fatal assault in the 2800 block of Cielo Circulo in Chula Vista was reported at 5:45 p.m., according to police. The victim died at the scene.
An officer took the suspect into custody nearby a short time later, Lt. Dan Peak said.
The men's names were not immediately available.
The motive for the stabbing was unclear, though it reportedly occurred during a fight, the lieutenant said.
