NATIONAL CITY, Calif. – Police were searching for a man who set a car on fire as the owner and his daughter sat on their porch just feet away.

The father and daughter were on the front porch of their home at 302 East 2nd Street just before 2 p.m. Thursday, when a man ran up to their car, which was parked in the driveway, and threw a brick through the back window. He then threw a plastic bottle with a flammable substance inside into the car, and it burst into flame. The man then ran away from the scene.

National City firefighters arrived a few minutes later and put the fire out. The back of the car was badly damaged by the blaze.

No one was hurt. Arson investigators were looking into the incident.
