ALPINE, Calif. — A man injured in a head-on crash in Alpine was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. near Boulder Oaks Elementary School. Officers say the driver of a white truck crossed a double yellow line and slammed into another car.

The man rescued from the mangled car was seriously hurt, authorities said. The person driving the truck was not injured.

Traffic was backed up for more than an hour while crews cleaned up the crash.
