SAN DIEGO — A bandit wearing a cowboy hat pulled a knife on a store manager at a Mission Valley supermarket Wednesday and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The thief confronted the supervisor at the Ralphs store in the 5600 block of Mission Center Road and demanded cash shortly before noon, according to San Diego police.

The bandit got into a blue older-model Chevrolet Cavalier with heavy chassis damage and was driven away by a female accomplice.

Witnesses described him as a roughly 5-foot-9-inch Latino in his 20s, wearing shorts, a blue shirt and a cowboy hat, SDPD Officer Dan Lasher said.
