SAN DIEGO — A bicyclist was seriously injured Tuesday night after he was hit by a car near Balboa Park.

The 38-year-old man was riding his bicycle southbound on Pershing Drive when he made a left turn onto Redwood Street. A 31-year-old woman driving a Fiat was heading north on Pershing hit the cyclist at 9:43 p.m. in the intersection, according to San Diego police.

The man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening head injuries, according to San Diego Fire Department.

The crash was being investigated by the police traffic division.
