Man hit by car near SDSU suffers fractured spine

SAN DIEGO — A man hit by a car early Thursday near San Diego State University suffered a fractured spine.

The victim, who is in his early 20s, was standing in the eastbound lanes of Montezuma Road near Rockford Drive for unknown reasons when he was hit by a 2014 Mazda 3 sedan around 12:15 a.m., San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The man sustained a spinal fracture in the crash, which Delimitros said was not considered life-threatening. The 21-year-old man behind the wheel of the Mazda was apparently uninjured.
