SAN DIEGO — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV while walking in the Clairemont Mesa East neighborhood Saturday night, police said.

The 60-year-old man, who was dressed in dark clothing, walked in front of a Ford Escape SUV traveling northbound along the 7600 block of Linda Vista Road just before 10:25 p.m. Saturday, according to officer Robert Heims with the San Diego Police Department.

The victim was discovered lying facedown with no vital signs, Heims said.

Police are not releasing the identity of the 28-year-old male driver. They don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash and no charges have been filed.

The SDPD’s Traffic Division was handling the investigation.

Earlier Saturday, another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking about three miles away. In that crash, a 19-year-old woman was walking along the 5900 block of Linda Vista Road when she was hit by a Toyota Prius at about 5:30 p.m. The woman suffered a broken pelvis in the crash.
