SAN DIEGO — A man was found lying in a parking lot and bleeding after an attack outside a convenience store in Rolando early Tuesday.

Police were called about the wounded man lying outside the 7-Eleven at El Cajon and Rolando boulevards around 4:30 a.m. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, giving him CPR in the ambulance as they drove.

Investigators learned the 30-year-old victim was getting out of his parked truck when he got into some kind of argument with another man. That person swung a weapon at the man, severely wounding him, San Diego Police Department said. The attacker then ran off.

Police described the suspected attacker as a man in his 20s with a light complexion, wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts. He was last seen on El Cajon Boulevard riding a bike, according to SDPD.

Police stopped one person on a street nearby for questioning, though they did not call that person the suspect. Officers were reviewing security video and interviewing store employees to try to learn more.

As of 7:30 a.m., the victim was still fighting for his life under medical care, San Diego Police Department said.
