Cops surround home after man allegedly beats wife with chair

SAN DIEGO — A standoff with a domestic violence suspect ended Tuesday morning after about 90 minutes when the man came out of his home and was arrested without incident, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Officers arrived at the 4200 block of 50th Street at 5:08 a.m. after reports that a man beat his wife with a chair. When police arrived, the man was alone in the home and his wife was nowhere to be found.

At least 15 police units were in the area as of 6 a.m. It was unclear if the man was armed. The man was described as a white male around 55 years old, according to police.

No roads were closed in the area.

The standoff ended around 6:35 a.m. as the man came out and was taken into custody, according to police. His name was not immediately available.
