Man arrested on suspicion of starting fire in East Village

SAN DIEGO — A man was arrested Friday night after police say he started a small spot fire in the East Village.

Around 8:30 p.m. near 10th Avenue and B Street, someone witnessed a homeless man lighting a fire and when officers arrived, he tried to put it out himself, according to San Diego police.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of arson.
