SAN DIEGO — A Lyft driver was mugged and hit in the head with a pistol while he took a break in Mission Valley Monday night.

He told police he had pulled to the side of the road on Camino Del Rio South near Interstate 8 to take a break at about 10 p.m. Monday night. While he was stopped, two men approached him.

One of the men pulled out a handgun and hit the Lyft driver. The men took the driver’s wallet and ran off.

The injured driver went to a nearby restaurant to report the attack. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to treat his injuries, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

The robbers were still on the loose Tuesday morning. The driver was only able to give a vague description.
