SAN DIEGO — A man died Sunday night after he was hit by a car in downtown San Diego, according to officials.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. on Harbor Drive, shutting down traffic between Laurel and Hawthorn Streets, according to the San Diego Harbor Police Department.
“It sounds like the pedestrian stepped into traffic,” Sgt. Greg Scallion told City News Service. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver remained at the crash site.
Police were urging the public to avoid the area while they investigated the crash. No information about the driver or the victim has been released.
