SAN MARCOS, Calif. (CNS) – A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a collision with a car in a San Marcos parking lot, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported shortly after 6:15 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Fry’s Electronics store on South Bent Avenue, between Grand Avenue and West San Marcos Boulevard, San Diego County Sheriff’s Sgt. Charles Morreale said.

A preliminary investigation determined the 23-year-old motorcyclist was heading northbound in the parking lot when the rider collided with the driver’s side of a westbound two-door Acura sedan, throwing the rider off his motorcycle, Morreale said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious, but non- life-threatening injuries, the sergeant said.

The occupants of the Acura were uninjured in the crash and alcohol was not believed to have been a factor, Morreale said.
