66-year-old motorcyclist killed in SR-76 crash

PAUMA VALLEY — A 66-year-old was killed Saturday when his motorcycle went off state Route 76 and crashed into a tree.

The man was riding a 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide westbound on SR-76 around 3:30 p.m. when he veered to the left, drove off the road and hit a tree near Harolds Road, California Highway Patrol said.

CHP, La Jolla Fire Department, Rincon Fire Department, Pala Fire Department and La Jolla Tribal Police Department all helped in trying to save the rider’s life.

A helicopter was called but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said he was a 66-year-old from Mission Viejo.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and officials haven’t released his name.
