Man shot, killed in Vista

VISTA, Calif. — A man was fatally shot Thursday night in Vista, and deputies were still searching for the shooter.

Around 9:40 p.m., a security guard found the man on Santa Fe Avenue near Similax Road, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The guard called 911, and paramedics arrived to attempt life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A description of the gunman was not immediately available, but deputies said they had spoken with several potential witnesses.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will notify the victim’s family and perform an autopsy to determine his cause and manner of death, a sheriff’s department news release said.
