SAN DIEGO — Firefighters knocked down a blaze that broke out at a high-rise building in the East Village area of downtown San Diego Thursday afternoon.

The fire started around 12:10 p.m. on the the 12th floor of the St. Teresa de Calcutta Apartments at 1 14th Street, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Officials initially reported the blaze was on the 10th floor of 1401 Imperial Avenue, the city’s Homelessness Response Center located next-door.

Officials said the flames were contained to the room in which it started and was knocked down in about 20 minutes.

There is no information on what caused the fire at the 15-story building. No injuries were reported.
