SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Two residents were displaced Tuesday when a predawn fire broke out in a bedroom of their Pacific Beach home and caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 1:15 a.m. at a single-story house on Noyes Street between Diamond and Emerald streets, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters responded to the home and found smoke coming from the front door, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. Crews entered the home and found the fire was contained to a single bedroom, she said, adding that they knocked down the flames within 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported and the fire did not spread beyond the bedroom.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help two residents arrange for temporary lodging.

The blaze caused an estimated $10,000 to the house’s structure and $5,000 to its contents, Munoz said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
