LA MESA, Calif. – Multiple residents were displaced Monday night after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Spring Street in La Mesa.

Heartland Fire Department crews arrived at Spring Hill Apartments around 7:30 p.m. to a fire on the fourth floor. San Miguel Fire Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews were there to assist. La Mesa Police Department was there to provide traffic control.

Due to the sprinkler system, units on the third floor of the apartment complex suffered water damage, displacing about 30 residents in total. Only one apartment was damaged by the flames.

The American Red Cross was there to help whomever needed assistance.

No injuries were initially reported and the cause of the fire was not yet known.
