SAN DIEGO – A 78-year-old woman died Monday after she was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a Skyline-area home, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Just before 8 a.m., officers responded to report of a domestic violence/assault with a deadly weapon in the 200 block of Siena Street, according to Lt. Adam Sharki with SDPD.
When officers entered the home, they found residents 84-year-old Mikal Ahmad and 78-year-old Mildred Ahmad woman who were later confirmed as husband and wife, police said. The woman suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives investigating the incident believe the shooting occurred during a domestic argument between the man and woman.
“A family member discovered the shooting, took the gun from the male, and then called police. The firearm has been collected as evidence,” Sharki said.
A homicide detective told FOX 5 that police suspect it was her elderly husband who shot and killed her.
Mikal surrendered to authorities without incident and was booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.
Police still do not know what the motive was for the shooting.
