SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — Deputies identified a 39-year-old man Monday who was shot and killed in Spring Valley this weekend.

The sheriff’s department was called to a parking lot on Jamacha Road near Sweetwater Road just east of state Route 125 around 8:20 p.m. Sunday. Deputies found a man who appeared to have been shot at least once, San Diego County Sherriff’s Lt. Thomas Seiver said.

Carlos Enrique Callejas, 39 years old of Chula Vista, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
