SAN DIEGO — A sheriff’s deputy found the body of a woman early Wednesday who authorities believe was shot.

The San Diego County sheriff’s deputy was on patrol around 3 a.m. near 5700 Quarry Road when he found the body of an adult female near a cul-de-sac, spokesperson Lieutenant Tom Seiver said. The woman appeared to have a gunshot wound, according to Seiver.

The sheriff’s homicide unit is leading the investigation and deputies were investigating on Quarry Road off Sweetwater Road. No further details were immediately available.
