SAN DIEGO — Homicide detectives are investigating what led to the death of a 60-year-old man after his body was found near a trolley station late Wednesday.

The San Diego Police Department said dispatchers got a call at 9:11 p.m. about someone who was hurt near the Rio Vista Trolley Station, which is part of the San Diego Trolley’s Green Line. Responding officers found a man dead with trauma to his upper body.

SDPD called in its homicide unit, which is heading up the investigation into the discovery. The police department said very little is known about what led to the man’s death as detectives work to collect evidence and locate witnesses.

Investigators said they’ve identified the man, a 60-year-old who is believed to be homeless, but they are not yet releasing his name.
