SAN DIEGO — A 13-year-old goalie from Rancho Peñasquitos was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in her cheek and her father is helping her cope through soccer training.

Kasey Harvey is battling the rare cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. To stay strong through her fight, she focuses on her recovery and returning to the soccer field.

Kasey and her father Rodney, who believes that “losing is not an option,” wake up in the mornings and do workouts with the anticipation of playing again after her 42 weeks of chemotherapy.
