Local gas prices drop to lowest in 5 years

SAN DIEGO — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Tuesday to its lowest amount since May 29, 2009, decreasing 1.3 cents to $2.714.

The average price has decreased 81 of the past 82 days, dropping 98.9 cents, including six-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 13.3 cents less than one week ago, 38.5 cents lower than one month ago and 91.6 cents below what it was one year ago.
