Holiday travels took to the roads in San Diego County, taking advantage of cheaper gas prices.

According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of gas in the San Diego area stands at $2.54.

“Gas prices have been really helpful for us as a family. We can make longer trips,” said Pacific Beach resident Andy Tolley.

AAA expects more than 98 million Americans will travel this holiday season. Sunday is the last day to get home before many people go back to work or school.

Many San Diegans chose air travel and found they were not alone. Travelers kept calm as they navigated long lines to check their luggage.

“It’s pretty crowded. People are trying to get here extremely early,” said traveler Brian Taylor.
