LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Police Department’s headquarters was evacuated Thursday night due to a suspicious envelope containing a powdery substance, authorities said.
A hazardous materials unit was sent to the headquarters, located at 1st and Main streets in downtown Los Angeles. People were asked to avoid the area.
Shortly before 10 p.m., police said the envelope was deemed safe and that the area would soon reopen.
Due to a suspicious package, LAPD’s Headquarters located at 1st and Main in Downtown Los Angeles has been evacuated. HazMat Personnel are responding and we will update as information becomes available. Please avoid the area.
