LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Snowboarders and skiers were evacuated from a Lake Tahoe resort ski lift after one of the chairs fell off Sunday.

No one was on the chair when it fell from the cable and no injuries were reported, Heavenly Mountain Resort officials said. The chair fell as it was traveling on the downhill side of the North Bowl lift at 11 a.m.

The lift was halted and 65 people were evacuated with the help of ski patrol.

Heavenly’s lift maintenance crews were investigating and repairing the lift.

Lara Miller was stuck on the broken lift for two hours. She posted video to Instagram of a skier getting rescued from the lift.

“The girl in front of me was terrified, but handled rescue like a champ,” Miller posted.
