SAN DIEGO — An inmate worker serving a nine-year drug-related sentence escaped from a facility in San Diego Sunday.
Omar Ramirez Sandoval, 47, who also was facing deportation, was reported missing about 1 p.m. from the East Mesa Re-entry Facility at 446 Alta Road, said Sgt. Chris Davis of the San Diego Fugitive Task Force. The facility inmate worker was last seen about 7 a.m., Davis said.
Sandoval was wearing a tan and white worker uniform with San Diego Jail markings. Sandoval is Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is clean-shaven with a short crew cut.
He had been sentenced to nine years after being convicted of selling and transporting narcotics, Davis said.
It’s unclear how he escaped.
