SAN DIEGO —  A 19-year-old man was found dead at a home in the Logan Heights neighborhood, police said Sunday.

A resident at the house on Clay Avenue, near Ocean View Boulevard, returned home and called 911 after discovering the teen suffering from a serious injury.  Police arrived and determined he was dead.

“That’s very sad,” said Nate Williams, who frequents the area with his family. “I grew up right down the street from here. We go to the church here and it’s just like within this block, boom — this happens.”

Homicide investigators could be seen removing items from the house Sunday morning, including several bags, boxes and two office chairs.

Williams was driving home from church when he came upon the scene and expressed shock at what had happened.

“This neighborhood is like a center point around here,” Williams explained. “The churches are around here, everybody generally knows either each other or knows to take care of one another down the street and stuff like that.”

Homicide detectives are investigating the death. The victim has been identified, but his name is being withheld until his family is notified. Investigators did not immediately say how they believe the teen was wounded.

Anyone with information about this incident was asked to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
