Home invasion suspect hits woman with wood plank, police say

SAN DIEGO – An intruder accused of hitting a woman over the head with a wood plank was hospitalized after the woman’s sons fought him, police said Sunday.

Police were called regarding a home invasion on 50th Street around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, San Diego police Sgt. Mark Stephens. When officers arrived they found a man detained by other young men.

A woman opened her apartment to man banging on the door, police said. He then pushed her back and hit the woman in the head. Her two sons came to her defense and fought him until they detained the suspect.

The woman was taken to Mercy Hospital due to her head injuries. The suspect was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
