SAN DIEGO — Police Wednesday arrested a woman accused of running over a man who confronted her about beating her 8-year-old sister with a belt.

Shortly after 2 p.m., a 50-year-old man saw a 24-year-old woman, later identified as Tantrina Spencer-Simmons, beating the child in an apartment complex parking lot in the 300 block of 47th Street, according to San Diego Police Department Sgt. Michael Tansey. When the man confronted the woman, she placed the child into an SUV and got into the driver’s seat.

After the man called police, the woman intentionally ran over him, Tansey said. She drove off and was later arrested in the 4500 block of Market Street.

The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for severe, life-threatening injuries, Tansey said.
